Wow, a week already. I'll do a summary post for the week shortly.
For those not following, this is a crazy experiment explained in this post.
So the day started off with the price around $536 NZD for 1 BTC. I should get the AUD price... around $501 AUD for 1 BTC. Weird looking at the price of 3 currencies all at once!
So for breakfast I ate muesli that my partner had brought. While I could have driven out to Rosebery to Black Star, it is easier (and makes her happier) if I eat at the hotel. I'm not sure I'll get a dairy to accept while I'm in Sydney, as I am on holiday...
We went out for a walk along the harbour, and saw some cool boats from the Navy, and saw that we could go see 5 boats including a submarine, a war ship from Australian Navy, one boat we couldn't actually see, a replica of Captain Cook's Endevour, and a ship that was found in a river down in Tasmania. We could also go to the National Maritime Museum if we bought this "Big Trip" ticket. It's holiday, that seems touristy, so I bought the ticket, $27 AUD. Well worth the money but not actually bitcoin.
Before we started looking at this ships, my partner wanted a coffee, so we went to Yots Cafe, which is underneath the Maritime Museum. I left a tip of $1AUD in my paper wallet slip. I only actually have 3 paper wallet tip slips left! Hopefully won't need more before I get back to NZ...
The ships were awesome, though people must have been small and/or hunchbacked on them! Apparently Captain Cook was over 6 foot, but he stayed in a room that was probably 4 foot tall! A lot of history in them. I would recommend that experience to anyone going to Sydney that isn't being crazy and trying to live off bitcoin...
For lunch, we went to a place the girls chose. They did not accept bitcoin. I spent cash... $14 for a pasta meal.
The day was quite long, and the ships took up most of the time. The girls went out for a cider along the harbour, and I went sober. After that, back to the hotel to charge phones, and then I suggested we go to The SG (Spooning Goat) for a drink there (they accepted bitcoin, and will be the location of a meetup on Wednesday). I got there, and it was closed, opening hours said it opened on a Monday at 4pm, it was now 5:30pm. So who knows...
I should note, on Wednesday, I'm now going to a family dinner at my cousins place in Earlwood, and am to bring a bottle of wine. If anyone knows an off license to get wine from for bitcoin...
So for dinner tonight, we went to Westfield Tower, and ate at a Malaysian place. An old friend came in (who is actually sailing around the world with his wife at the moment!) stopped by, and one of the first things he asked me was "who's paying for this one eh ;)". Seems a lot of people read this blog! The answer was my partner, and I'll pay for the next nights meal at The Owl House, with bitcoin.
Oh, I also donated a few milli bitcoins to my mate who is starting a brewing brand called landshark brewing. Check out his blog.
So thats it for today.
